As the sun sets on the 2023 season at ATA Lodge, we are proud to share our end of season fishing report from the amazing Alagnak Wild and Scenic River of Bristol Bay, Southwest Alaska! July Has Been Epic at ATA Lodge! Of course the Sockeye Salmon start to stream in to the Alagnak Wild River in Early July. And they did not disappoint again this season. The fishing for sockeye was "off the chain" again this year! Lots of happy guest throughout the whole month were able to catch as many sockeye as they wanted. Most were released, but many guests retained their daily limits to take fresh salmon back home to eat and share with family and friends! ATA Lodge has been having a fantastic season this year. What a comeback after the chaos of Covid last season! We have been so busy with the best guests ever and a lot of great fish being caught! As June closed the trout fishing remained strong, with so many big trout being caught and released! We have lost count of the trout over 24" with many over 28" and the biggest taping out at 31"inches long!!! By the 1st of July we were marking Sockeye in the river. Another Great Season in the Books at ATA Lodge! After browsing through this blog post, I think that you will have to admit that The Alagnak Wild River is a pretty photogenic location. We certainly feel privileged to be able to call it "home" for almost 5 months every year! Conditions this season were a bit different than what we have come to expect out here in Bristol Bay. After a very mild winter with little snowpack on the mountains, we went on to experience an unprecedented heatwave and drought throughout the entire season.
